Prayer Walking and Immunity Boosting

Hey Friend! It’s Fall Break here! We get two weeks off from school, which means two weeks “off” from work for me (of course work will still happen). While in general I think a two week Fall Break is ridiculous and I would much prefer an extra week of summer break instead (one week of fall break would be sufficient), these past few weeks have been filled with so much activity and events, I’m really looking forward to some downtime and a quick getaway.

I wanted to share one activity that has been helping me navigate this season of busyness in a way that I did not anticipate, a weekly prayer walk. I just finished the 7 week bible study “He’s Where the Joy Is” by Tara-Leigh Cobble. This is the same TLC that hosts the Bible Recap I do daily. Sidenote: we just started the New Testament this week! If you got behind on the reading we started in January or want to jump in to a daily chronological bible reading plan, now is the time!

A part of the 7 week study is to take a 30 minute “Prayer Walk” once a week. She suggests an outdoor walk, but I do mine early on Sunday mornings, so I do mine on my elliptical (while the kids are still asleep and TJ is at work/church). She divides the 30 minutes into three 10 minute segments with a prompt for each segment. For example, the first week is 10 minutes praising God for who he is and what he has taught you this week, the second 10 minutes is asking God to search your heart and reveal anything in need of confession/repentance, and the last 10 minutes is talking to God about your needs or wants. I’ve also been intentionally taking time to be silent during each section (this is when I’ve learned the most!).

I have to tell you, I was such a grouch about doing this study. It is a study about the trinity, a deep subject on its own, and involves A LOT of work. I had no clue how I was going to fit it all in. But of course, God was faithful to meet me where I was and each week God has revealed so much to me! I have grown in knowledge and understanding of who He is and have found a new habit to maintain with these prayer walks. I can’t encourage you enough to make these prayer walks a part of your routine! It’s been transformational for me in my work relationships, my marriage and in my walk with the Lord. Try it.

The other thing we’ve been diligent about since school started is taking steps to help protect us from seasonal sickness. Every day, we use products designed to support our immunity. AdvoCare has put together a few DISCOUNTED bundles so you can chose the one that is right for you. Check them out here: www.TJandCasey.com. My kids especially love the GoMe Multivitamin gummies and GoMe Elderberry gummies.

Remember, being healthy and especially being the example is more than just the size you wear. Take care of yourself from the inside out.

Your Friend,
